Community Conservation of Kororā / Little Penguins in New Zealand

Kororā/little penguins are the world’s smallest penguin species and live and breed all around the New Zealand mainland, offshore islands, Chatham Islands and South Australia. There are many community groups looking after their local penguin colonies in New Zealand, and NZPI aims to promote collaboration and information exchange to increase our nationwide understanding of kororā populations.

Most scientific information to-date about little penguins originates from studies conducted in Australia and for us to help our penguins here, we need to know more about them and their environment.
